The bike is mostly finished now. We (Dave really) need to put the fenders on and order the rest of the xtracycle stuff. All and all I expect this to be a pretty cool bike and it was a lot of fun to build. The albatross bars are a touch I really really like. I’m sure someone else has it too but I don’t recall ever seeing the combination before. I also really like the black stem with the polished bars.
Other thoughts: We were ill prepared for a top pull derailleur. Should have just read more. But Dave ended up buying two. One will be used on my new bike so no great loss… The cable routing on the Big Dummy is done with zip ties and cable housing that runs from the bars to where ever its going. There are no cable stops on the bike at all. Everything is secured with zip ties. It gets difficult when you’re doing the third cable under the top tube to get everything to fit. It was nice to not have to worry about cutting anything to length on one hand, but I think it was harder and you loose the ability to add barrel adjusters…. Dave’s running a friction shift setup and has plenty of adjustment on his brake levers so I don’t think its a big deal here…. but in another situation it might be irritating.
Even with a frame that is way to small for me it’s a lot of fun to ride.
